Requirements and Conditions
In order to ensure that a stalking session is conducted safely and is suitably tailored to your level of experience, we require certain conditions to be met before the session commences. The most important of these conditions are set out below. Further information on our technical and competency requirements can be found here.
Individuals wishing to shoot from a highseat unaccompanied must hold a current Firearms License and have relevant insurance through an organisation such as BASC (British Association for Shooting and Conservation) or the BDS (British Deer Society), covering them for a minimum of £5,000,000 Public Liability. These documents must be presented on the day prior to an outing.
Non Firearm Certificate holders who do not have 'shooting specific' Public Liability Cover are required to check that their own household insurance will cover them for shooting activities. A minimum of £5,000,000 Public Liability is requested to indemnify them against any accidents that may occur as a direct result of their actions.
All individuals not holding DSC level 1 or equivalent will be asked to shoot three rounds within a 4 inch circle at 100m, under the observation of the guide. Novices will be asked to shoot an additional three rounds at a deer silhouette target on the 100m range, to demonstrate that they are able to locate and place their shots within the kill area of a deer. This can be done in the afternoon prior to an evening stalk or in the day(s) commencing a morning stalk.
Novices need NOT hold a firearms certificate as they we be accompanied at all times by a FAC holder when using an estate rifle.
Clients may use their own rifle, providing it is of a calibre not less than .240in. Alternatively an estate rifle is available.
Failure to comply with any requirements or instructions given by the guide, either before or during a stalking session may lead to the termination of the session, without refund.
